these bands. You will not be disappointed.
This Thursday! July 4th!
CURB
- London, ON | Noise-Punk Rock Fury |
- Their
legendary 3-bass set on 4/20 at Hot Dog will not soon be forgotten. While yielding only one bassist for this show, you can expect these
local guys to still blow everyone away. - They will be releasing a
5-song Demo Tape (recorded “the proper way” directly on to tape) at
this show, a Lo-Fi Noise-Punk’s wet dream.
THIS MESS
- Toronto, ON | ‘SST’ Punk Rock |
- A
fast and loud 3-piece Riff-Punk act from Toronto, that have been
turning heads with their in-your-face screeching punk bursts of
songs. - Their 21 track album States is great from front to back,
and I can’t wait to welcome these guys to the APK stage for the first
time.
KESTRELS
- Halifax, NS | Shoegaze Indie Rock |
- These well-known shoegazers have made some changes recently and their new sound is a foray into louder, hazier territory.
- Their last release A Ghost History gained international acclaim, from serious players like Brooklyn Vegan & Punk News
- Currently
working on their latest full length album with engineer Alex Bonenfant
at The Dreamhouse in T.O (where METZ recorded their LP).
A Week from Thursday! July 14th! - Toronto, ON | Stoner-Pop-Psych-Bubblegum Garage |
- Originally
from Lethbridge Alberta, these guys have been around the block (so to speak),
and have created a unique Garage Rock meets Stoner-Pop sound that blows
away nearly anyone else. SRSLY THO! - “Perhaps if
Brian Wilson spent his lost years making spaced out power-pop and
listening to the Bomp! Records catalogue it would have sounded like
this.” -Pleasance Records
- Editor’s Note: frontman Paul Lawton’s also been getting some press for his criticism of the Canadian Music Industry on his blog ‘Slagging Off’ including articles on Vice and in the National Post.
MONOMYTH
- Halifax NS | Weirdo Psych-Pop Haze |
- Easily
one of Halifax’s best acts, these guys have been on my radar for
a while now. Their recordings jump between Psychedelia and Weirdo-Pop. It’s experimental yet catchy and accessible. - Their
latest release ‘King, Does This Not Please You? (Behold the Power)’ is a
four-track masterpiece. It’s Surfy, its Shoegazey, it’s Poppy yet
completely Punk Rock.
SAY DOMINO
on Youtube
- London, ON | Garage-Psych |
- You’ve
probably seen them before but the new songs occupy both
the Psychedelic and the “Summer Jam” realm. Genre always changing. - Newly
self-released tape recorded w/ Denholm Whale (Odonis Odonis) available
for free Download via Bandcamp (limited physical copies remaining).
ZEBRASSIERES
- Toronto, ON | Synth Punk |
- RUMOURED TO APPEAR. Get their early.
